Autumn is a time of warmth, comfort and aromas that envelop the house. One of the best ways to create a special atmosphere for the family is to prepare a fragrant cake with apples and cinnamon.

This dessert combines the sweetness of juicy apples with a spicy hint of cinnamon, perfect for an evening with a cup of tea.

Ingredients for the pie

For the base:

  • 200 g of wheat flour
  • 100 g butter (cold)
  • 2-3 st. l. cold water
  • 1 Art. l. sugar
  • A pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • 5-6 medium apples (sweet and sour varieties are better)
  • 3 Art. l. sugar (or to taste)
  • 1-2 hours l. ground cinnamon
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 Art. l. corn starch (for thickness)

For filling:

  • 2 eggs
  • 200 ml of cream (20-30%)
  • 2 Art. l. sugar
  • 1 hour l. vanilla sugar

Step-by-step recipe

1. Prepare the dough.

  • Mix flour, sugar and salt in a bowl.
  • Add the cold butter, cut into cubes, and rub it with the flour until it becomes crumbly.
  • Add water to form a dough. Wrap it in cling film and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.

2. Preparation of the filling.

  • Peel and core apples, cut into thin slices.
  • Sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent them from darkening.
  • Add sugar, cinnamon and starch, mix gently.

3. Form the base of the pie.

  • Roll out the cooled dough and place it in a baking dish (22-24 cm), creating sides.
  • Prick the bottom with a fork to prevent the dough from puffing up during baking.

4. We assemble the cake.

  • Spread the apple filling in an even layer on the dough.
  • In a bowl, mix eggs, cream, sugar and vanilla sugar, beat until smooth. Pour this mixture over the apples.

5. We bake.

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Bake the cake for 40-50 minutes, until the filling is set and the surface is golden.
