Christmas gingerbread – how to create delicious and beautiful treats

Christmas gingerbread is not just a dessert, but a real symbol of the festive mood. They are ideal both for family tea parties and for gifts.

Ingredients for the dough

  • 150 g butter (room temperature)
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 100 ml of honey
  • 2 eggs
  • 400 g of flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp of soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp ginger
  • A pinch of salt

The cooking process

  1. Mixing the ingredients
    • Beat butter with sugar until creamy.
    • Add eggs and honey, mix well.
    • In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices and salt.
    • Gradually introduce the dry mixture into the liquid ingredients, knead the dough.
  2. Cooling
    • Wrap the dough in a film and leave it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
  3. Forming and baking
    • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
    • Roll out the dough to a thickness of 5 mm and cut out figures with the help of molds.
    • Put the gingerbread on a baking sheet with parchment and bake for 8-10 minutes.

Glaze for decoration

Royal icing is the best choice for decorating gingerbread:

  • 1 egg white
  • 200 g of powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Preparation :

  1. Beat the egg whites to soft peaks.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar while continuing to beat.
  3. At the end, add lemon juice for shine.
  4. Transfer the glaze to a pastry bag and decorate the gingerbread cookies as desired.

Tips for perfect gingerbread

  • Spices . You can add nutmeg or cloves for a richer aroma.
  • Designation . Use colored icing, edible pearls and sugar decorations.
  • Storage . It is better to store gingerbread in an airtight container so that they remain soft and fragrant.
